Dwight Richard Martin, 79, of New Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center at New Philadelphia following a short period of declining health.

Born June 29, 1932, he was the son of the late George Henry and Anna Marie (McNutt) Martin, Sr.

Dwight’s professional career as a self-employed appliance repairman spanned more than 35 years. Prior to this, he worked for Bordens Dairy.

He was a member of the Dover Moose and a social member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445.

Dwight is survived by his siblings, Jim (Christy) Martin of New Philadelphia, Donna Linard of New Philadelphia, Doris (Jim) Haas of Dover, Albert “Gene” Martin of New Philadelphia, Ruth Martin of Dover and George (Toni) Martin, Jr. of Uniontown; his companion, Ethel Quillen of New Philadelphia; his children, Connie (Gary) Cameron of Arizona, Ricky Martin, and Roger (Kathi) Martin of Arizona; his sister-in-law, Judy Martin of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Trinity (Orson) Branch and Ray Cameron; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Branch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Zurcher; and two brothers, Edgar and Gerald Martin.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. Cremation will be cared for by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory and inurnment will take place in Evergreen Burial Park at a later date.
