Dustin Michael Runyon, age 27, of New Philadelphia, has gained a healed body and is now in the immediate presence of the Lord. Dusty passed Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2015, in OSU Medical Center at Columbus following a lifelong battle with numerous health issues.
A son of Kimberley (companion, Marsha Dotson) Callen-Runyon of New Philadelphia and Ronald (companion, Joy Diehl) Runyon, Sr. of Strasburg, Dusty was born in Union Hospital at Dover on September 18, 1988.
He was a 2008 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and Buckeye Career Center. He enjoyed Mickey Mouse, attending car shows, being an online D.J., playing video games which included Pokémon, Kingdom Hearts, and Ultimate Alliance and spending time with his cat, Pistol.
Through all of his health issues, Dusty kept a positive outlook on life; often encouraging others in their own hours of darkness. He named himself the “Bluebird of Happiness”. It was his daily goal to make those around him smile; whether it be by using his wit and sense of humor or providing words of inspiration.
In addition to his parents and their companions, Dusty will be missed by his brothers, Ronnie (Amanda) Runyon of Strasburg, and Paul Runyon of New Philadelphia; his grandparents, Bev and Rex Taylor of New Philadelphia and John Callen of Crossville, TN; his longtime girlfriend, Ashley Wright of Dover, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul Runyon and Lillie Dillon.
The family will greet guests on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 1-3 and 5-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Bob Scheall will lead a celebration of Dusty’s life beginning at 7:00 PM.
