Duane Floyd Kinsey, 78, of Country Club Retirement Campus, died Friday, December 14, 2007 following a 15 year battle with Alzheimer’s.A son of the late Charles and Mary (Stucky) Kinsey, Duane was born October 22, 1929 at Fry’s Valley, Ohio.Duane attended Gnadenhutten Schools and he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On May 16, 1951, Duane married the love of his life, the former Helen Naomi Lindsey. The couple shared 52 years of marriage before Helen’s passing on October 11, 2003. Following her death, Duane took up residence with his daughter and son-in-law Sue and Michael McComb of New Philadelphia.He worked at Alsco Anaconda at Gnadenhutten as a truck driver and he also worked as a private contractor for George Hooker before his retirement.Duane took great pride in owning a 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 that he restored along with his grandsons. He also dearly loved his Shitzu puppies, George and Morgan, whom he spoiled rotten.He is survived by his daughters, Sue (Michael) McComb of New Philadelphia, Carolyn (John) Fisher of New Philadelphia, Lori (Trace) Venus of Costa Mesa, California and Traci (Willie Miller) Carruthers of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Misty (Don) Huebner, Duane Heston, Curtis Fisher, Amber Fisher, Deidra (Roger) Casteel, Cody McComb, Roman McComb,, Lindsey Venus, Kahlie Venus, Richard (Melissa) Strimbu II and Vanessa Strimbu; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joy Light of New Philadelphia and Marjorie “Jeanne” Denney of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a brother, Harold (Bernice) Kinsey of East Canton and many nieces and nephews.Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen and a grandson, Timothy Eugene Heston.Family and friends may call on Monday, December 17, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Duane’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Following the service, Duane will be buried alongside his wife in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW Post # 1445 will render military honors.
