Doyle Dean Roth, 80, of Tuscarawas, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Edward and Lucy (Rummell) Roth, Doyle was born April 29, 1932 at Tuscarawas, Ohio.
Doyle was a 1950 graduate of Tuscarawas Warwick High School. He then enlisted with the United States Marine Corp on September 5, 1951. Doyle would attain the rank of Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge on September 4, 1954.
On June 25, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia, Doyle married the love of his life, the former Margaret Ann Mattevi. The couple raised seven children, Edward, Robert, Theresa, Thomas, Laurence, Timothy and Patricia.
He was employed by Superior Clay for 17 years, I.F. Manufacturing for 16 years and eventually retired from Perma Glas-Mesh after seven years of service. Doyle was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and he enjoyed gardening, vacationing and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Roth; his children, Edward Roth of Dover, Robert (Stephanie) Roth of Dover, Theresa (Fred ) Tuerler of Strasburg, Thomas (Alisa) Roth of Uhrichsville, Laurence (Jacqueline) Roth of New Philadelphia, Timothy (Annette) Roth of New Philadelphia and Patricia (Fred) Jackson of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Levesque, Michael (Krystal) Roth, Travis (Jami) Roth, Richard (Kim) Roth, Robert (Sheena) Roth, Jayson (Brandy) Roth, Chad (Sandy) Roth, Timberly Roth, Tyler Tuerler and Jaime Jackson and his great grandchildren, Logan, Landen, Peighton, Kash, Eliza, Karsyn and Kaylee; a sister, Faye (Dale) Fenton of New Philadelphia; two brothers, John (Ruth) Roth and Lloyd Roth both of Dover and many nieces and nephews.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin and Nancy Roth, two other sisters-in-law, Jean Roth and Ruth M. Roth, a daughter-in-law, Veronica Roth and a niece, Amy Grimm.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake Service being held at 3:45 p.m. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the Tuscarawas V.F.W. will render military honors. Following the services, a luncheon will be held in St. Ambrose Hall at the church.
