Doyle Charles Peoples, 87, of Dover and formerly of Tuscarawas, died Wednesday, December 02, 2009 in New Dawn Health Care at Dover.A son of the late Joseph and Mary (Thiebaud) Peoples, Doyle was born July 29, 1922 at Uhrichsville, Ohio.Doyle was a 1939 graduate of Uhrichsville High School then attended one year at The Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II as a Sergeant with the Military Police Battalion.On April 22, 1943, Doyle married the former Jaunita Blankenship in Huntington, West Virginia and together they raised four children, David, Patricia, Bunita and Joe. The couple shared 59 years of marriage prior to Juanita’s passing in February of 2003.He was the owner and operator of Tuscarawas Block Plant from 1945 until 1965 and for the next three years, he was the owner and operator of Peoples’ Mushroom Farm. Doyle then retired from the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District after 20 years of service.Doyle had a passion for children. He is credited with starting the dances at the youth center in Tuscarawas. His home was open to the kids in his neighborhood where they could be found playing basketball, ping pong, shooting pool and bouncing on the trampoline. He especially enjoyed Sunday afternoons when he would load the neighborhood kids on his flatbed truck and drive them to Rainbow Lake for a day of swimming and homemade ice cream.He was a former member of the Tuscarawas-Warwick School Board and enjoyed attending basketball games, working in his garden and camping with his family. Doyle cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.He is survived by his children, David (Brenda) Peoples, Patricia (John) Moore and Bunita (John) Maurer all of Tuscarawas; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and special friends Susan and Rich Jones of Newark, Ohio.Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Juanita and a son Joseph.The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Doyle’s life will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Bill Sowers officiating. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow the services.Contributions may be made in Doyle’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
