Douglas Eric Neff, 59, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly in Union Hospital at Dover on Monday, November 5, 2018.
A son of Gladys Winkleman Neff of New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover and the late Paul E. Neff, Doug was born on August 2, 1959 and was a graduate of Fairless High School.
Doug was a lifelong member of Shanesville Lutheran Church at Sugarcreek. He enjoyed walking around town, shopping and cleaning. He had an impeccable memory when it came to events and dates in family history and was even sharper when recalling any entertainment industry trivia.
In addition to his mom, Doug will be missed by his sister, Shirley (Johnny) Espenschied of Dover; his best friend, whom he considered a brother, Donnie Garabrandt of New Philadelphia; his niece Tamara (George) Benson of Strasburg; great-nephews and nieces, Brendan (Heather) Wiandt, Alexander (Deidra) Wiandt, Jonah (Kierstyn) Wiandt, Naomi (Dylan Bantam) Benson, Kate (David Hadley) Benson and Nathan Benson; and three great-great-nephews, Harvey, Logan and Marshall.
In addition to his father, Doug was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Neff and a nephew, Timothy Clark Weirich, Jr.
The family will greet guests on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 1-3 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where Minister Barb DeBord will lead a service celebrating Doug’s life beginning at 3 PM. Cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
