Dorothy Weber

March 10, 1923 — January 6, 2016

Dorothy J. Weber, 92, of New Philadelphia, passed away January 6, 2016 in the Inn at Northwood Village at Dover.

Born at Canton on March 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Clara C. (Barthel) Brunner. After completing her formal education at Canton McKinley she married her late husband, William H. Weber on November 27, 1945.

Dorothy served as a volunteer aide at the Attention Center for 35 years. She also enjoyed her role as a foster grandparent at West Elementary. Together with her husband, her faith was nurtured at Otterbein United Methodist Church where they were members. Dorothy also loved to roller skate on wood floor rinks when she was a young lady. Additionally, she enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards, making quilts, attending live shows, and playing bingo.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children Carol (Carl) Miller of New Philadelphia and William Weber of Akron; her grandchildren, Kimberly Menefee, Michael (Corrine) Weber, and Jennifer Swinderman; and her great-grandchildren, Shelby, Gavin, Michael, Monique, Nadia, and Amelia. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Brunner; her sister, N. Jean Haddix both of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Ralph, Russell, Paul, and Harold Brunner, and Marie Ward and Helen Jewell.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2-5 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be led by Pastor Jon Long on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. All are invited to share in a meal in the Fellowship Hall of Otterbein United Methodist Church following services.
