Dorothy Mae Crabbs, age 87, of New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover, and a fifty year resident of Carrollton, Ohio, died early Monday morning, September 26, 2005 in Union Hospital at Dover. Born in Hammondsville, Ohio, on July 10, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Leroy Stine and Georgia Ethel Whittaker. Dorothy was a 1935 graduate of Bergholz High School. On June 11, 1955, she married Dr. Carl W. Crabbs. The couple spent thirty-four years together until his death on January 20, 1989. Dorothy was an active member of the Carrollton community. She was a member of the Child Conservation League, the Carroll County Commission for the Advancement of the Arts, and for many years, she actively supported the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry of Carrollton. She was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church of Carrollton, and it’s ladies bible study. Mrs. Crabbs is survived by her two daughters; Karen (Jim) Wagner of Malvern, Ohio, and Darlene (Rod) Cairns of Dellroy, Ohio, and her son; Carl Richard Crabbs and his fiancé Judy Wassem, of Dover, Ohio, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers; William Glen Stine of Carrollton, and Robert Stine of Wooster. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Crabbs is preceded in death by a granddaughter; Devon Cairns, three brothers; Ralph, Lawrence, and Arthur Stine, three sisters; Alma Grace Algeo, and Elsie Kuester, and an infant sister, Ruth. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2005, in the sanctuary of the United Presbyterian Church of Carrollton, with the Reverend Ben Blummel officiating. Following the service, family and friends will gather for a luncheon in the church fellowship hall prior to a family committal service at 3 PM in the Mooretown Cemetery, in Bergholz, Ohio. Cremation will be conducted under the care and direction of Geib Funeral Services at Dover, Ohio. Memorial contributions, instead of flowers, may be made to her church, United Presbyterian Church, 265 2nd Street SW, Carrollton, OH 44615.
