Dorothy M. Beaber, age 92, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, November 1, 2021, in Park Village Southside following complications from Covid-19.
Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on October 24, 1929, Dorothy was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Eakin McKnight.
Dorothy attended New Castle High School and on June 14, 1974, married Richard Beaber. The couple resided in Florida for 45 years prior to returning to New Philadelphia to be near family.
Professionally, Dorothy was employed by McClain Groceries, Rust Craft Greeting Cards, and Burdines Department Store prior to joining the staff of Publix Grocery Store where she worked as a Food Demonstrator. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, crafting, playing Bingo, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and going out to eat with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by two sons, David (Suzanne) Park of New Castle, Pennsylvania, William Black of Canton; her step-children, Jeff (Kathy Routten) of Hampton, Virginia, Patty (Tim) Burson, and Sherie Reese all of New Philadelphia. Nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren complete the family.
Dorothy will also be missed by countless friends in Florida and abroad that include, a former foreign exchange student, Bo Bangtsson of Sweden, whom she thought of as a son; close friends, Andy and Debbie Flores, and her longtime caregiver, Tish.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Wilburn and Carolyn Schuckert, and a grandson, Brian Park.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
The family would like to thank Park Village Southside and Community Hospice for Dorothy’s wonderful and attentive care.
