Dorothy L. Utter Freeman

Dorothy L. Utter Freeman, 84, of Sebring, Florida and formerly of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 31, 2011 in Kindred Hospital at Tampa, Florida.A daughter of the late Forest and Veda (Lantz) Garner, Dorothy was born March 12, 1926 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Dorothy was retired from Alsco at Sugarcreek and was a member of Barrs Mills Church of God.She enjoyed watching game shows and wrestling on television and was an avid collector of Angel memorabilia. She also looked forward to playing cards with her friends every month. Most of all, Dorothy enjoyed laughter and the time spent with her family.Surviving are a son, James (Brenda) Utter of Dover; two daughters, Alma (Philip) Tatliak of Brandon, Florida and JoAnn (Gerald) Martin of Sebring, Florida; her step children, Howard, Terry, Robert and Mary Lou Freeman; six grandchildren, Cortney (Wayne) Steed, Steve (Jenny) Utter, Michael Tatliak, Eric (Nicole)¬¬¬¬¬¬ Tatliak, Melodi (William) Powell and Timothy (Barb) Johnson and nine great-grandchildren.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James N. Utter who passed away on January 16, 1959; her second husband, Howard W. Freeman who passed away on July 29, 2000; a sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Charles Rhodes and two step daughters.Friends may call on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Rich VanArsdalen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in The Barn at the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia.
