Dorothy Jane Kappeler

Dorothy Jane Kappeler, 88, of Smithville, O., formerly of Dover, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, in the Smithville Western Care Center.A daughter of the late George J. and Eunice Crites Kopp, Dorothy was born April 5, 1918, in Tuscarawas, Ohio.She was a 1936 graduate of Tuscarawas Warwick High School and had attended both Wittenburg and Case Western Reserve Universities.Dorothy had worked as the Children’s Librarian in the Dover Public Library, in the Tuscarawas County Treasurer’s Office, the Auditors Office of the Tuscarawas County Highway Department and as the Law Librarian in the Tuscarawas County Court House, prior to her retirement.She is survived by a sister, Alice E. Kopp, of Washington, D.C.; sister-in-law, Kay Kopp, of Springfield, O.; and nieces and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Robert S. “Steve” Kappeler, whom she married on December 30, 1958; a brother, George Kopp, Jr. and her feline companions, Missy, Miranda, Jasper and Willis III.A service will be held Tuesday April 18, 2006, graveside, in East Avenue Cemetery, in New Philadelphia, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Eileen Woyen officiating. There are no public calling hours.
