Dorothy Jane Fox, age 86, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 10, 2009, following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Thomas and Olive (Grimes) Edwards, Jane was born, on March 3, 1922, at New Philadelphia.On December 16, 1940, Jane married Donald “Duff” Fox and together the couple reared five children and following more than 50 years of marriage Donald passed away on January 22, 1993.For many years, Jane served as a cook at The Root Beer Stand on the Boulevard and worked in the housekeeping department in Union Hospital at Dover. A longtime member of Roxford United Methodist Church, Jane enjoyed Sunday morning worship as she participated in signing the classic hymns that she learned while growing up.Jane had many pastimes in her life that included crocheting blankets and giving them away as gifts, enjoying a good game of cards with friends and family and playing bingo. Additionally, she was a long standing member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and regularly participated in the dances that were held as fundraisers for the organization.Mrs. Fox leaves behind a family that includes her children, a son, Donald (Una) Fox of New Philadelphia and four daughters, Barbara (Larry) Blankenship of Willard, Ohio, Sherry (Fred) Rausch of Midvale, Brenda (Jim) Rotondo of New Philadelphia, and Tammy (Doug) Whitman of Strasburg, Ohio.Nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark) Velleca, Brandy (Greg) Brown, Brett (Andrea) Blankenship, Derrick Rausch and fiancée Erin Myers, Brittany Rotondo, Lacey Rotondo, Leandra Whitman and fiancé Steve Lantzer, Brianne Whitman, and Rachelle Whitman; a step-grandchild, Roy Simmers; and six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Tyler, Zachary, Leah, Alexis, and Bradyn complete the family. Jane is also survived by a special friend, Sarah, her long time “Bingo Buddies”, and card friends.In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Edwards; and three sisters, Ila Corpman â??Nedrow, June Turney-Linard, and Mary Briggs-Allen.The family will receive friends on Friday, February 13, 2009, from 4:00 â?? 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastors Henry Mooney and Bob Mathias will lead a service celebrating Jane’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the services, the family would like guests to join them in the Roxford Church Family Life Center where a meal will be shared.The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jane’s name to either Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W 3rd Street, Dover, Ohio 44622, or to the Roxford United Methodist Church, 771 Roxford Church Road SE, Dennison, Ohio 44621.
