Dorothy Elizabeth Hobart, age 64, of New Philadelphia died Saturday, June 5, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover following a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy. Born at Baltimore, Maryland on May 23, 1946, Dorothy was a daughter to the late Charles R. and Helen R. Klar and was raised by her grandmother, Dorothy E. Wendell at Dover.She was a 1964 graduate of Dover High School and later in life returned to the world of academia to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Century University in Business Administration As a young lady, Dorothy was employed by Baker Florist and Greenhouse at Dover and the former Reeves Bank of Dover. For more than nineteen years, Dorothy was employed by Starlight Enterprises, Inc. where she served as the Job Placement Specialist. During the same time period, Dorothy served as a co-owner of Skyview Data Services for more than sixteen years where she traveled and worked alongside her business partner, Robert Hobart.Through that business partnership, grew companionship and marriage as she and Robert exchanged vows on March 20, 2001. Together, the couple enjoyed traveling the country and sharing life together.Dorothy was also known for her skills as an accomplished cook and baker. She also had a talent for needle point and enameling metal, and often taught classes in her home on these subjects. She had an excellent memory, some may say photographic, and had the ability to recall processes, names, events, and dates from the top of her head.Additionally, Dorothy was an active member of the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church at New Philadelphia, where she formerly served as an Elder. Dorothy loved the flowers and gardens that surrounded her home and enjoyed helping any of her friends when called upon.In addition to her husband, she will be deeply missed by her son, whom she loved most admirably, Nicholas Boor, of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother, Charles (Sandra) Klar also of Scottsdale, Arizona; her beloved Weimaraner dog and guardian, Abby, and numerous cousins and family friends.The family will receive guests one hour prior to services on Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 1:00 â?? 2:00 PM in the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church at New Philadelphia. Pastor Sue Koenig will lead a celebration of life service in the church sanctuary on Sunday at 2:00 PM. Light refreshments and fellowship will immediately follow in the church social hall.Those unable to attend may send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name be directed to the Schoenbrunn Community Moravian Church, 2200 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
