Dorothy Eileen Rank, 89, of Gnadenhutten, died Friday, April 17, 2009 in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late Fred and Edna Mae (Kinsey) Johnson, Dorothy was born November 4, 1919 at Uhrichsville, Ohio.On March 12, 1940, Dorothy married Robert Rank and together they reared four children, Dottie, Edna, Wesley and Linda. The couple shared 48 years of marriage prior to Robert’s passing on November 3, 1988.Dorothy formerly attended Fry’s Valley Moravian Church. She enjoyed watching birds, playing Bingo and solving word search puzzles.She is survived by her children, Dottie (George) Preston of Gnadenhutten, Edna Gallion of Uhrichsville, Wesley (Brenda Kay) Rank of Gnadenhutten and Linda (Virgil “J.R.”) Ebersbach of Newcomerstown; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a sister, Helen (Kenny “Eli”) Weaver of Barnhill.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; two sisters, Myrtle Baldwin and Mary Smetts; three brothers, George, Glen and Ben Johnson as well as two infant siblings and a great grandchild.Family and friends may call on Monday, April 20, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel.
