Doris M Ludwig, 91, of Dover, passed away peacefully May 31, 2014.
Born in Dover on May 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Della (Reed) Thompson. Doris was a 1941 graduate of Dover High School.
Doris went on a blind date with Frederick “Fred” Ludwig and from there, a romance blossomed and on February 2, 1942 in Winchester, Kentucky, the couple was united in marriage. After marrying, Doris became a full-time homemaker and mother

Doris and Fred began worshipping at the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia in 1947 and became members in 1961. There, Doris was active with the Willing Workers, Altar Guild, UMW, and various other committees. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday School and helping with other children’s activities.
Doris had many interests she enjoyed doing with her late husband including boating, reading, camping and fishing. They also traveled nationally to 46 states and internationally to places such as England, Belgium, Holland, Scotland, and Wales.
Doris will be deeply missed by her son, Ronnie (Janice) Ludwig of Dover; her granddaughters, Anna (Douglas) Weyrick and Alison (Curtis) Harvey; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Alexander Weyrick and Marissa and Ryan Harvey; her brother-in-law, Tony Carlone of Massillon; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, on June 2, 2004; her brothers, Raymond and James Thompson; and her sister, Glenna Carlone.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial alongside her husband will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home where a meal will be shared following the committal service.
