Doris June Conwell, age 85, of Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia and formerly of Dover died Monday, November 22, 2010, in Union Hospital following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Francis “Shorty” and Ethel E. Holder Bethel, Doris was born at Newcomerstown, Ohio on June 12, 1925. She and her twin sister, Iris, were graduates of the Newcomerstown High School class of 1943. On September 6, 1947, Doris married Tom Conwell and together the couple reared two children. They shared in 54 years of marriage prior to Tom’s passing on February 23, 2002.Doris spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and caretaker of her family. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her skill as a pie baker. Additionally, Doris was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover and spent a number of years assisting her husband as a curator of the Reeves Mansion Museum. Doris will be missed by her two children, a daughter; Marian (John) Horsfall of Port Washington, Ohio; a son, Joseph A. Conwell of Versailles, Kentucky; two sisters, her twin, Iris Fruchey of Newcomerstown and Frances LaVonne (Clyde) Lyons of Conroe, Texas.Completing the family are two grandchildren, Brandon (Lindsay) Lyons of Dover and Andrea Lyons of Port Washington, her companion, Kevin Keirns of Coshocton; a great-granddaughter, LilyAnn Lyons of Dover as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 26, 2010, from 4 â?? 7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Pastor Bruce McLaughlin will lead a service celebrating Doris’ life in the Dover Funeral Center on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2PM.
