Doris Irene Morton Jackson, 90, of Altavista, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018. She was the wife of the late Gayle R. “Bud” Jackson for thirty-seven years.
She was born July 24, 1928 in Shelby, OH a daughter of the late William Leonard Morton and Lula Belle Scott Morton. Doris was a very special lady and loved by many, a member of Lane Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member of First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, OH. Doris was a retired bookkeeper for Invincible Vacuum Corp., she retired to Lakeland, FL where she was active in her church and retirement community for twenty years. She moved to Altavista in 2011 to be with her son, Bill. Doris loved singing in Lane UMC’s choir.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel K. Jackson and his wife, Renee of New Philadelphia, OH, William L. Jackson and his wife, Kathy of Altavista and Daryl J. Jackson of Dover, OH; four grandchildren, Tracey Steinbach and her husband, Kenny, Carrie Jackson, Lee Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Tanya, and Kelsey Carter and her husband, Eric; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Clark Allen Jackson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Lane Memorial United Methodist Church at Altavista by the Rev. Ben Horrocks with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
An additional service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2018 at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia, OH with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia, OH. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank her devoted care givers Vivian Farmer, Joyce Miller, Sandy Albrecht, Delicia Smith and many others who loved her.
