Doris Ann Haney

Doris Ann Haney, age 56, of New Philadelphia died peacefully, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in her home following a brief illness.

A daughter of the late Richard and Ethel (Johnson) Haney, Doris was born at Union Hospital at Dover on January 25, 1956.

She was a 1975 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and began her career in the restaurant business at the age of 17 with the former Dutch Pantry. For more than 20 years, she was employed as a waitress for the former Perkins Restaurant at New Philadelphia. Doris continued to serve at Dee’s Restaurant for more than 15 years and worked briefly for Michael’s Restaurant in Downtown New Philadelphia.

Doris enjoyed being at home working on her lawn, working on floral arrangements and loved the time she spent in the sun and swimming in her backyard pool. Much of the time at the pool was spent shared with the company of her many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Survivors include seven siblings; Dean Haney of Uhrichsville, Richard (Diana) Haney of Canton, Clarabelle Tomer of Dundee, Ronnie (Rose) Haney of Stone Creek, David Haney, and Theresa (David) Gilmore all of New Philadelphia, and Susie (David) Betche of Midvale. Completing the family are numerous nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Oris Haney; and a sister, Lilly Mae Haney.

The family will greet guest on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Richard Greenwood will lead a service celebrating Doris’ life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
