Dora Mae Beard, 84, a life resident of Dover, died Thursday, October 20. 2005, at Union Hospital in Dover, following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Richard and Anna Mae Parcell Harper, Dora was born in Dover on March 26, 1921.She was a graduate of Dover High School., and worked at various jobs in the community.She was Moravian by faith and formerly taught Sunday school at South Moravian Church. She enjoyed camping and bingo, and was the first “wagon” driver for the Dover Senior Center.She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her dog, Scruffy.Dora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Murray A. “Dutch” Beard, whom she married in June of 1941; sisters, Florence Dupler and Ruth Berndt; and her brothers, Robert and Daniel Harper.Funeral services will be Monday, October 24, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Dover Burial Park with Rev. Allen Bergman officiating. A reception will follow at the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave. Dover, OH. In accordance with her wishes there will be no calling hours. Geib Funeral Center in Dover is handling the arrangements.Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate PO Box 634445 Cincinnati, OH 45263-4445 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
