Donna Marie Schwartz

Donna Marie Schwartz, 71, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late Donald and Mary (Scoville) Dewalt, Donna was born April 15, 1936 at Massillon, Ohio.Donna was a 1954 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. She then graduated from the nursing program at Massillon Community Hospital in 1957. Donna retired as a registered nurse from Porta-Medic.She was a member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia. Donna was active at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards. She was also a regular at the Tuscarawas County YMCA.She is survived by her children, Donald (Erin) Schwartz of New Philadelphia, Michael (Sherrie) Gardner of Richardson, Texas, Melanie (John) Wright of New Philadelphia and Earl “Bear” (Karen) Schwartz, Jr of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Amy Gardner, Katie (Jeremy) Rice, David Gardner, Sarah Gardner, Valerie Nealey and T.J. Wright; two great grandchildren, Parker and Natalie Nealey and two sisters Bonnie (Marvin) Hess of Navarre and Suzanne (Michael) Brogden of Massillon.Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lloyd Gardner who passed away in 1962; her second husband, Earl Schwartz, Sr who passed away in 1996 and two sons, Samuel Schwartz and Steven Gardner.Family and friends may call on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Donna’s life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia with Pastor Jeffrey Gerber officiating. In keeping with Donna’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service and inurnment will be held at a later date.Following the service at the church, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Donna’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622
