Donna Mae Geib

Donna Mae Geib, born April 1, 1927, the youngest daughter of William and Grace (March) Geib, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024.

A lifelong resident of Dover, Ohio, Donna Mae was a fiercely independent and superstitious woman who danced to the beat of her own drum. Never married, she was engaged once in the 1960s to a man who told her that she couldn’t have a washer and dryer, that is when she called off the engagement and never looked back! Donna Mae was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 46. She worked at Siebert Printing for 5 years and retired from Goshen Dairy after 35 years.

In her down time, Donna Mae had many hobbies. She played string bass for the Philharmonic Orchestra. She bowled for area leagues for many, many years. She enjoyed fishing for walleye in her boat, the “Suzy Q,” owned a motorcycle, a sports car, and a horse. Donna Mae enjoyed her summer weekends at Guilford Lake and vacationing at Restoule, Canada. She was an avid fan of Guardians Baseball, Browns and The Ohio State University Football. As an adult, she bragged about breaking into the fair every year, wouldn’t leave the house on the 13th of the month (especially if it fell on a Friday), and loved to laugh!

Donna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jane (Lemke), Brother-in-laws Jack Lemke, and George Grywalski. She is survived by her sister Norma Grywalski, Nephew Randy (Sherry) Lemke, and Niece Cyndi (Joleen) Lemke, and their respective families. On behalf of Donna Mae, her family would like to express their utmost gratitude to Donna Mae’s former neighbor Harry who for many years brought her meals and did her shopping, and Chris Miller (her Aunt Mary’s grandson) who often checked in on her, once saving her life.

Very special thanks to the staff at Park Village Health Care Center, many of whom treated Donna Mae like family, visiting her in the hospital or holding vigil at her bedside during her final hours. And to the special team at Crossroads Hospice Care for their compassionate and tender care.

Per Donna Mae’s request, there will be no services and cremation care is to be provided by the Geib Funeral Center and Crematory at Dover. She will be buried alongside her parents in Maple Grove Cemetery. Instead of remembering Donna Mae at a calling hour, think of her while dropping a fishing line, enjoying the game, or feeding the birds.

The family requests that donations be made in memory of Donna Mae Geib to either Crossroads Hospice of Uniontown or the First Moravian Church of Dover.
