Donna Charnock

Donna Charnock, 87, of Dover, Ohio passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Hennis Care Center at Dover.

A daughter of the late James “Ted” and Gertrude (Swinderman) Maple, Donna was born March 10, 1930 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Donna graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1947.  She was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star at New Philadelphia.

Donna had a tender heart and cared greatly for animals and her family.  She had always believed that her family came first and had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was also known for making her famous spaghetti and meatballs.

Donna is survived by her 4 children, Christie (Randy) Gates, Shelley (Patrick) Wheeler, Richard (Joann) Charnock, Jr., and James (Sherri) Charnock; 13 grandchildren, Brent Gates, Ryan (Aricka) Gates, David Wheeler, Allyson ( Mark) Adams, Kate (Chris) Martin, Christie (Brian) Hoef, Zach (Aimee) Charnock, Katelyn (Terrance) Jackson, Alexa (Brendon) Prosch, Brooke (Kale) Horvath, Olivia Charnock, Matthew (Rieko) Charnock and Taylor Charnock; 14 great-grandchildren, Patrick, Harrison and Ben Adams, Eve, Cole and Emily Martin, Colin and Chloe Hoef, Copelyn, Easton and Tristan Charnock, Aeralyn, Jayce and Willow Prosch as well as a sister-in-law, Martha Straub,

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charnock, whom she married March 25, 1952; a brother, James Maple, Jr.; a sister, Karla Jean Maple and a great-grandson, Anderson Adams.

In keeping with the family’s wishes there will be no public calling hours or service and a private graveside service will be taking place at a later date.  Cremation care will be handled by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
