Donald L. Beans, age 70, of Dennison, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover. A son of the late Frank and Mary Ellen (Albaugh) Beans, Don was born on March 19, 1939, at Akron, Ohio. Don was a graduate of Midvale High School and soon there after married the former Sandy Bird at Jerusalem Church in 1961. Together the couple reared two children. For more than twenty-eight years Don worked for the Marlite Company and for a brief period of time drove truck and later retired from Primary Packaging following eight years of service with the company. Don enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping and mushroom hunting. He was also passionate about gardening and spent many hours a summer caring for his crops. Don also enjoyed spending time with his friends playing cards and socializing with his family during gatherings. In addition to his wife, of forty-eight years, Don is survived by a son, Donnie (Lisa) Beans of Dennison; a son-in-law, Jeff Cunningham, also of Dennison; a brother, Austin (Mary Rose) Beans of New Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Bernie Beans of Gnadenhutten; and three grandchildren, Megan and Michelle Cunningham, and Dylan Bricken. An aunt, Thelma Albaugh, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Cunningham; a grandson, Willie Beans; a brother, Bill Beans, and an infant sister. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2009, from 5:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bob Mathias will lead service celebrating Don’s life on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 2:30 PM in Roxford United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery. Following services the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the church’s Family Life Center where a meal will be shared. Those unable to attend are invited to share personal condolences with the family by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions in Don’s name be made to Roxford United Methodist Church, 771 Roxford Church Road, Dennison, Ohio 44621.
