Donald James Whittingham, Jr., 66, of Dover, Ohio died surrounded byFamily, October 25, 2005 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.Born December 25th, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the lateDonald J. Whittingham, Sr. and Imelda “Millie” (Kimmel) Whittingham.Don was raised in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of “Lincoln Avenue” during the 1940’s and 50’s and graduated from Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School in 1956.He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University ofPittsburgh at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1960, which he funded himself by working at The Pittsburgh Post Office at night. Continuing his education, he attended the University of Southern Illinois at Alton, Illinois and Duquesne University at Pitts-Burgh, Pennsylvania pursuing a graduate degree.He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1960-62.After the military, Don began his professional career with RCA at Cambridge,Ohio where he started out as a staff accountant in 1962. While working at RCAHe met his future bride, the former Regina R. Biedenbach, whom he married on August 29th, 1964 at Cambridge, Ohio.Don’s 41 year career continued with accountant positions with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation at St. Louis, Missouri and Emerson Electric Company atSt. Louis, Missouri., and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He went on to be Controller for the Bacharach Instrument Company at Pittsburgh, Pa. and Audit Manager for Bendix Corporation, Warner and Swasey, at Cleveland, Ohio.Don relocated the family to Dover, Ohio in 1975, where he held various positionsfor the Warner and Swasey Company, Gradall Division. His assignments included Manager of Finance and Systems, Material and Service Parts Manager, and Division Manager.His most recent position was Vice President of Finance and Administration for Flex Technologies at Midvale, Ohio for twenty-one years, until he retired in 2003.Don served as Chairman of the Tuscarawas County United Way in 1979 and 1980, was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Union Country Club,and the local YMCA. His hobbies included golf, tennis, reading, boating andtraveling.In addition to his wife, Regina, of 41 years, Don is survived by one son, Donald J. (Susan E.) Whittingham, III of New Philadelphia and two daughters, Jennifer M. (Jorge) Lopez of Spring Hill, Florida, and Beth Ann (Craig) Pearlman of Chicago, Ill:three sisters, Donna (Bob) Mills of Daytona Beach, Fla., Carol (Sam) Santoriello, who preceded him in death, and Janice (Al) Greco of Greensburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Christian B. Whittingham, of New Philadelphia, Ashley M. and Olivia M. Lopez, both of Spring Hill, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at the Geib Funeral Center in Dover on Friday, October 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 29th, at 1:00 pm at St. JosephCatholic Church at Dover with Father Bill Arnold officiating. FollowingInterment at St. Joseph’s Calvary Cemetery at Dover, a reception will be Held at the Geib Family Center in New Philadelphia.The family encourages memorial contributions in celebration of Don’s lifeTo be made to St. Joseph’s Family Life Center, 613 N.
