Donald G. Hupp Sr., age 77, went to be with our Lord Thursday, October 14, 2010, in his home, surrounded by his family.Born January 8, 1933, at New Philadelphia, Don was a son of the late George and Annabelle Hupp.A Korean War Veteran, Don served in the United States Air Force as a member of the Air Police from 1951 to 1955 having been stationed at Libya and Tripoli, Africa. Don graduated from Whiting Business College in 1961 with a degree in Data Processing. He worked as a technology troubleshooter for many companies that included the State Highway Department, Diebold at Canton, Joy Manufacturing and ultimately retired from Warner & Swasey at New Philadelphia.Pops, as he was known to his family, loved to fish, hunt and travel to places that his children lived; Alaska being one of them. Anyone that knew Don knew that he was always willing to help anyone in need and he was willing to give them the shirt off his back if that is what it took to help. Don will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, the former, Marilyn V. Roseberry; four children; Debra K. Musick of New Philadelphia, Jeff (Shonna) Hupp of Homosassa, Fl., Beverly (his “Little Buddy”, Ray) Blake of New Philadelphia, and Kimberly (Jeremy) Ketchum of Roy, Washington. A sister, Nancy (Kenny) Lawver of Roswell also survives.Grandchildren; Brian (Miranda) Hupp, Chrystal (Bill) Gerthing, Eric Riddle, Shawn (Crystal) Musick, Dave (Traci), Rich (Kim), Christopher (Alisha) Blake, and Chuck (Melissa) Snyder, Katie (Craig) Lecouris, Shay and Jeffie Hupp, Teresa (Michael) Davis, Jeremy Sayles, Kristi and Joshua Ketchum, Becca and Zac Hupp; nineteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by three children; Carol Ann Hupp, Sue Ann Hupp, Donald G. Hupp Jr., a great grandchild; Braiden Gerthing; 6 brothers, Chuck Hupp, Norman Hupp, Brady Hupp, George Hupp, Jack Hupp, Bob Hupp and four sisters, Vesta Anderson, Mary Beamer, Peg Morrison and Joy Beamer.The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 16, 2010, from 1:30 â?? 2:30 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Mr. Donavon Martin will lead a funeral service celebrating Don’s life Saturday afternoon at 2:30 PM in the Dover Funeral Center. Following the service members of the Dover VFW Post will render military honors.Those unable to attend may send personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.Memorial contributions in Don’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street Canfield, Ohio 44406 or to Community Hospice, 201 West Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Nagajothi and Staff for their exceptional care, as Don fought a courageous battle against leukemia since 1980 and in the past years had battled bone and liver cancer.
