Donald G. McCoy, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully early Saturday afternoon, just two days shy of his 76th birthday, December, 18, 2010, in his home with his family at his side.Born December 20, 1934, at New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Harry G. McCoy and the late Eva Lucille Geottge.A 1953 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Don worked at Warner & Swasey, now Gradall, his entire forty-three year career.As a young man, Don enjoyed softball. Throughout his life, he enjoyed trips to NASCAR races with his family and friends, and a cruise on the occasion of his 25th wedding anniversary. His favorite hobby was bowling, which he did for many years. He won tournaments with his wife, JoAnn, and with his sons. He bowled his first prefect 300 game at the age of 68 on the occasion of his wife JoAnn’s birthday. For this and his many tournament wins, Don was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame April 15, 2006.He leaves behind a family that includes his wife, JoAnn L. Baus McCoy, of New Philadelphia, two sons; Timothy A. McCoy and companion Kay Rentsch of New Philadelphia, James C. Herron and companion Debbie Miller of Dover, and three daughters; Terri L. Reidenbach, Tammy L. Addleman (Dwayne) and Cynthia M. Herron and companion Eric Gribble, all of New Philadelphia. A daughter-in-law Tami Herron and companion Chris Seifert, also survives. Don will be sadly missed by his 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren on the way. A brother, Richard McCoy (Barbara) and a nephew Rick McCoy (Debbie) all of New Philadelphia complete the family.In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by an infant sister Beverly, and a son, Kim W. Herron. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 4-7PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Paul Rob will lead services for the McCoy family Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a luncheon reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.Special thanks from the family are extended to Dr. Nagajothi MD and his staff as well as the caring nurses and staff at Union Hospital.
