Donald F. Lafferty

Donald F. Lafferty, age 54, of Bolivar, died Monday, May 31, 2010, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness.A son of Doug Lafferty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and the late Janice (Pacey) Turner, Don was born at Willard, Ohio on October 22, 1955.Don was a 1974 Graduate of Willard High School and the Former Pioneer Joint Vocational School at Shelby, Ohio.Following high school, Don entered into the United States Navy where he served as a member of the Launch and Recovery Team aboard the USS Forrestall. He was charged with the duty of maintaining the catapult system aboard the ship.For many years, Don’s career was in the automotive industry and served in a number of capacities with his employers.Don was a muscle car fanatic, enjoyed watching the Military Channel, studied the science of aviation, and was a talented artist that enjoyed drawing and sketching.In addition to his father, Don leaves behind his wife of nearly fifteen years, the former, Vicki Engel; a son, Kayne Lafferty, of the home; a daughter, Jessica Lafferty of Norwalk, Ohio; a brother, Dr. Richard (Ellen) Lafferty of Mansfield Center, Connecticut, and five sisters, Pam Lafferty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jennie Turner (companion, Chuck Amos) of Lake Seneca, Ohio, Lisa Wilber of Sandusky, Kim (Randy) Branham, and Kellie Fletcher all of Willard, Ohio.Two grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his mother, Don was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Jennie Pacey and his paternal grandparents, Ruben and Polly Lafferty.In keeping with Don’s wishes there will be no public visitation. The Rev. Matt Roe will lead a memorial service on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 11:00 AM, in the First Church of God, 824 Tuscarawas Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.The family requests that memorial contributions in Donald’s name be directed to the First Church of God, 824 Tuscarawas Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
