Donald F. Heck, 78, of Dover went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 13, 2006 at his home with his family by his side.A son of the late Warren and Olive (Frazier) Heck, Donald was born September, 15, 1927 in Gnadenhutten, Ohio.He was a veteran of the United States Army and he had also served in the Merchant Marines. Donald retired from Baker Hi-Way Express in 1976 where he was a Truck Driver.Donald attended the Millersburg Christian Church and was a member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. as well as the Teamsters Local #92. He enjoyed tinkering with all sorts of things, but he especially enjoyed woodworking and his model trains. Donald loved to travel with his wife and family and up until the time of his death, he was planning his next vacation. He had a strong love for his family who will miss him dearly.He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Kathryn (Adkins) Heck, whom he married on June 4, 1948; two daughters, Kathy (Richard) Pope of Tuscarawas and Judy (Gary) Littleton of New Philadelphia; one son, Donnie (Sharon) Heck of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Jessica (Pat) Ferris of New Philadelphia, Aron (Shane) Satterfield of New Philadelphia, Trevor (Angie) Littleton of Millersburg, Ashley (Brandon) Bates of Uhrichsville and Christopher Heck; great-grandchildren, Brody and Riley Ferris, Ethan Bouscher, Payton and Ryan Satterfield, Layla Heck and Tara Bates; two sisters, Grace Scopel of Wainwright and Barbara Goudy of Uhrichsville and many nieces and nephews.Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Elaine Sue Heck and two sisters, Mary Murphy and Maxine Rennicker.Family and friends may call on Sunday July 16, 2006 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Donald’s life will be held on Monday July 17, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Pastor Trevor Littleton and Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek where the Tuscarawas V.F.W. will perform military honors. Following the services on Monday, a memorial reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church at New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
