Donald Eugene Wolford, 73, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Union Hospital in Dover.A son of the late John and Kathryn (Swope) Wolford, Donald was born November 24, 1931 in Dresden, Ohio.Donald was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. He was also stationed in Japan during his service to his country. He was a member of the Dover VFW Post #3463.He retired in 1993 from Greer Steel in Dover after 31 years of service.He is survived by his children, Michael (Phyllis) Wolford of Pickerington, Ohio, David (his fiancé, Tracey) Wolford of New Philadelphia and Vicki (Mark) Mitchell of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Scott Mitchell of Coshocton and Ryan (Tara) Mitchell of Princeton, West Virginia; one sister, Valerie Levengood of New Philadelphia; and one aunt, Ruby Swope of Dresden, Ohio.Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth M. Wolford; and Mary Corder, who raised him as he was growing up.Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by Teacher Kay Rees of Community of Christ Church, on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia with the Dover VFW Post #3463 performing military honors.
