Donald Eugene Carlisle

Donald “Fuzzy” Eugene Carlisle, 81, of Tuscarawas and formerly of Goshen, died Monday, July 9, 2007 at his home.A son of the late Gibson and Grace (Kuhn) Carlisle, Fuzzy was born September 24, 1925 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.On April 10, 1959, Fuzzy married the former Carol L. Harig and together they raised three children, Debbie, Linda and Jim.Fuzzy retired from Gradall at New Philadelphia in 1987 after more than 35 years of service. He was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. and he was commonly referred to as the “Unofficial Mayor of Goshen”. But most of all, Fuzzy was a devoted grandfather who was very active in his grandchildren’s events.He is survived by his children, Debbie (Paul) Arnold of Tuscarawas, Linda (Bruce L.) Garner of Gnadenhutten and Jim (Jerri) Carlisle of Tuscarawas; grandchildren, Jeremy (Salena) Arnold and Jessica Arnold, Corey and Kayla Garner, Josh (Missy) Carlisle and Justin Carlisle; sisters, Pauline Waltz of New Philadelphia and Margaret Ann Peoples of Boardman, Ohio; sister-in-law, Martha Carlisle of Dover and many nieces and nephews.Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Carlisle who passed away on September 1, 2003; one sister, Delores Smith and two brothers, Bob and Chet Carlisle.Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Elder Glenn Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
