DONALD D. CORDER, JR., 52, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 in his Dover residence following a year-long battle with lung cancer. Don was born in Dover on June 18, 1949 to the late Donald Dean Corder and Ruth Amanda Hostetler Corder and graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1967. Following graduation, he served honorably with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam war. He worked as a machinist at Hercules Engines in Canton for twenty-five years. For the past two years he worked on the dock at Americold Logistics in Massillon. Don was a member of the Dover Army-Navy Garrison, the Dover VFW, and the Dover Eagles. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and was an avid fan the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Don is survived by his wife, Vicki St. George Corder, whom he married December 30, 1996 in Dover; his dog, “Podgie”; sister, Linda (Mike) Ervin of New Philadelphia; nieces, Missy (Mike) Tuttle and, Kelly Lafferty both of New Philadelphia and Shelly (Randy) Wilson of Dennison; great-nephews, Mikey, Cody, Jake, and Travis; mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Roy Case, Jr. of Nokomis, FL; and Don and Vicki’s best friend, Judy Fink. Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, 2002 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, May 13, 2002 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Don’s brother-in-law, Terry Balder, officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 Third St., Dover, OH 44622.
