Donald D. Beamer, 65, of Wainwright died July 17, 2005 in Union Hospital at Dover after battling a lengthy illness.Born May 29, 1940, he is the son of Sarah Helen and the late John Donald Beamer.After completing 10th grade at Tuscarawas High School, he began working with Dallas Crites in Gnadenhutten hauling milk, next with Cross Creek Coal Company as a shovel operator, followed by Jim Boltz, General Grading as a heavy machinery manager.Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially teaching them to fish. His family was extremely important, and brought out the best in him. Don occasionally enjoyed deer hunting and he had a passion for woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Roberta Kay Syler, whom he married May 27, 1962 in St. Johns Lutheran Church.In addition to his wife and mother, Don is survived by his son Ricky (Vicki) Beamer of Dover, his daughter, Sheila (Kevin) Mutti of Stonecreek; five grandchildren, Christine, Clarissa, and Clark Mutti of Stone Creek and Audrea and Carson Beamer of Dover; a brother, Gary (Gwen) Beamer of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Doris Horner of New Philadelphia, Jane (Albert) Dummermuth of Tuscarawas, and Shirley Smith of New Philadelphia; brothers-in-law, Elmer (Kate) Syler and Doran (Ruth) Syler, both of New Philadelphia and James (Pauline) Syler of Baltic and Robert (Eileen) Syler of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Clara Ellen Young of Columbus and Marilyn Geckler of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his father, Don was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Chuck Horner and a great-nephew, Nick Swaney.Visitation will be held at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral celebrating Don’s life will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Terry Downin officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Geib Family Center following the committal.
