Donald C. "Don" Ballantyne

Donald Charles Ballantyne, of Dover, passed away peacefully in Hennis Care Center following a period of declining health.

Born in Pittsburgh on February 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert and Jane Ballantyne and his birth mom, Anna S. Ballantyne.

After graduating from West Hadeston High School, his professional career spanned 26 years as a parts manager with Ferris Chevrolet. Then, he served as the maintenance director with St. Joseph Catholic Church and oversaw Calvary Cemetery at Dover.

In 1964, Don married the former Lynn Hruby and together they were blessed with the birth of their children Jill Ballantyne of Clearwater, FL and the late Donald “Donny” Ballantyne. He was also survived by his grandsons, Spenser Albrecht of Bluffton, SC, and Chandler Albrecht of Mooresville, NC; and his sister, Catherine Alling of Bethlehem, PA.

In addition to his parents, step-mom, and son, Don was preceded in passing by his 3 brothers, Joseph, David, and Robert Ballantyne.

Father Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Parish on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior in the church. Burial will follow mass in Calvary Cemetery at Dover. A meal will follow in St Joseph Family Life Center.
