Don L. Rockenfelder

Don L. Rockenfelder, age 89, of Strasburg, Ohio, and Bonita Springs, Florida, died early Sunday morning, November 12, 2006, in Union Hospital at Dover. Born at Nashville, Ohio, March 8, 1917, Don was a son of the late Clayton and Hazel Pyers Rockenfelder. Don is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Mary Evelyn Hall Rockenfelder, and three daughters and their families; Kathy and husband Mike Van Dine of Ashland, Becky and husband Lee Novak of Uhrichsville, and Wendy Rockenfelder and husband Dean Carro of North Canton. A sister, Bonnie Doty of Nashville, Ohio, and a sister-in-law, Fayonna Rockenfelder of Ashland, seven grandsons and four great-grandchildren complete the family. Don was a mechanical engineer owning R & J Motors of Strasburg, before working for Diebold and General Electric. Mr. Rockenfelder was instrumental in the building of Strasburg Racetrack in the 1950’s which later became the Strasburg football field. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and wintering in Florida.
