Dominic Vincent Pallotto, 83, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a brief illness.
A son of the late Domenico and Melita (Disanto) Pallotto, Dominic was a first generation American who was born on November 1, 1936.
Dominic graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1954. He then served in the United States Army from 1960-1962 in the 16th Infantry. His Infantry was later used as extras in the movie “The Longest Day”. Dominic then went to work for Joy Manufacturing where he retired as an inspector after 44 years of service.
He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed camping, traveling and boating. Dominic was a skilled repairman who could fix anything and was known for his ingenuity in problem solving. He will also be remembered as an outstanding cook and for his chicken cacciatore recipe.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Becky Palloto; his two grandsons, Tony (Ally) Pallotto and Kurtis Pallotto; his great-grandson, Jayce Pallotto; his sisters, Cilta Griffith, Ann Neiger; a brother-in-law, Gary Wilhelm and Tina (Jim) Mathias and several nieces and nephews.
Dominic was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters; Mary (Bob) Vansickle and Lucy Wilhelm; two brothers-in-law, Paul Griffith and Gene Neiger and his five beloved dogs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Dominic’s life will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Entombment will be held privately in Dover Burial Park.
