Dolores Larue Truscott passed away on her 83rd birthday in the Community Hospice House, November 20, 2013 following a period of declining health.
Born in North Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Sevard Albertus Davison and Eva Isabel (Clifton) Davison Graham.
After graduating from Vandergrift High School in 1948, Dolores was employed at the community’s telephone company where she began as a long distance operator and was later promoted to service supervisor. One of her significant roles at the telephone company included blowing the fire whistle for the town.
Her faith was nurtured at the First United Methodist in Dover where she served and participated in a variety of capacities. One of her many contributions included serving on the greeting card ministry where she sent cards to individuals to celebrate or support them through life’s significant moments.
She also enjoyed participating on the Shenanigan bowling league with her husband and lifelong companion, Robert “Bob” Truscott. Together, they greatly enjoyed spending time with their family.
Dolores also was active in the Girl Scouts program with her daughter, Candace, in her earlier years. Whether she was in an airport or at a church function, Dolores had the unique ability of befriending anyone she had the opportunity to meet.
She will deeply be missed by her husband, Bob; her children, Rob (Courtney) Truscott and their children Madelyn and Morgan, all of Cleveland and Candace (Craig) Sass and their daughter Christine, all of Kingsport, Tennessee; her one aunt, Aunt Lorraine; and her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, William and Harry.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, 5600 North Wooster Ave., on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Rev. Dave Kowaleski will officiate a service celebrating Dolores’ life in the First United Methodist Church, 1725 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation held in the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park. Dolores’ church family will host a reception in the church social hall following the committal service.
