Dolores “Dodie” Ann Luthy, 73, of Dover, passed away Sept. 7, 2006, at Hennis Care Center after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 13 at St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of James and Monette Williford. She grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Roosevelt High. Later, she moved to Ohio, where she met her first husband, Jess Sherer of Stone Creek, whom she married in 1951. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Don Luthy, her parents and a grandson, Travis Hunter. She is survived by her six children, Catherine (Jeff) Leonard of East Sparta, James Christian (Maude) Sherer, Kim Sherer, Scott (Tina Matheny) Sherer, all of Stone Creek, Pamela (Gary Killian) Sherer of Hanover, Ind., and Patricia “Trish” Ady of Dover; grandchildren, Tammy (Bo) Tinlin, Heather (Jim) Maloon, Shauna (Tim) Hostetler, Luke Sherer, Nathaniel Chase Sherer, Christopher Hunter, Kimber Kinnen; Jeremy Ady and Dakota Ady; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jesse, Jett, Jayna, Jaret, Jackson, Hailey, Abigale, Hannah, Winton, Tristan and Terin; a special aunt, Margaret “Maudie” Miller of St. Louis; and her two beloved cats, Canei and Chablis. She worked in retail and at the Country Club Retirement Center until her retirement in 1993. She also volunteered as a Gray Lady at Union Hospital at Dover. Dolores was a devoted advocate for the Dover Public Library and was a voracious reader of mysteries and metaphysical topics. In later years, she used the library’s drop-off service and donated her books to the library. She loved gardening, especially her impatiens, lilies and zinnias, and enjoyed computer games, knitting, crocheting Afghans for her family and friends and playing cards. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at 1 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Chapel at New Philadelphia.
