Dixie Lee (Murphy) Krupka, 70, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Zoarville, died Tuesday in Hennis Care Center at Dover after a brief illness with brain cancer.
She was born April 9, 1944, in Zoarville to Lanta and Lulu Tomblin Murphy. She was a life resident of the area and was employed as a housekeeper at several hotels, including the Schoenbrunn Inn and Holiday Inn until her retirement.
Dixie was active in the Relay for Life campaign to raise funds for cancer research. She was co-captain and primary campsite designer for the Little Theatre’s team, winning several awards.
She is survived by her husband, Harry “Gene” Krupskaya, whom she married May 31, 2002. She also is survived by a son, Dale (Vicki) Shonk of Midvale; three daughters, Dennetta (Floyd “Junior”) Jones of New Philadelphia, Dee (Mitch) Indermill of New Philadelphia and Debra (Don) Mooney of Dover; a brother, Bob(Rosalind) Murphy of Zoarville; two sisters, Bonnie (Glenn) Yost of Brunswick, Ohio and Roxie (Steve) Long of Zoarville; grandchildren, Cameron and Keegan Jones, Tommi Shonk, Kaleb and Kyler Indermill, all of New Philadelphia, Emily and Sam Shonk of Midvale, and Braylon Mooney of Dover; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul Jones.
Calling hours will be Wednesday (today) from 6 to 8 at the Geib Funeral Center at 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover. At her request, she is to be cremated. Memorial services will be Thursday at 10:30 at the Geib facility.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that food be brought to the Geib Funeral Center for a luncheon to follow the services.
