Dianne Kay Ackerman, 65, of Dover, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Aultman Hospital at Canton.
Born in Dover on August 26, 1949, Dianne was the daughter of the late David Y. and LaVaughn (Householder) Miskimen.
Dianne’s formal education began at Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and after graduation; she continued pursing her education at Mount Union College where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree.
Then, she attended Ashland Theological Seminary where she completed her Master’s Degree and went on to serve the community as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at Community Mental Healthcare and most recently for New Life Counseling Center.
Dianne’s faith was nurtured for numerous years at the First Moravian Church in Dover where she was an active member. She also maintained memberships with the Gideon’s Auxiliary Tuscarawas County Camp, C.I.S.M.I, and national, state, and regional counseling associations. Dianne also gave of her time and talent serving on the board for Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County and the American Cancer Society.
On September 18, 1976, Dianne married her lifelong companion and friend, Jerry L. Ackerman, and the two would have celebrated 39 years of marriage together this year. She will also be deeply missed by her children, Thomas (Kera) Ackerman of Lexington, Kentucky, and Joni (David) Homan of Uhrichsville; her grandchildren, Justin (Amanda), Joshua, and Bryant Homan, and Anna and Claire Ackerman; her brother, David A. (Diana) Miskimen of New Philadelphia; in addition to numerous dear members of her extended family.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents; and her infant son, Ryan Phillip Johnson.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A service celebrating Dianne’s life will be held in the First Moravian Church beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday with The Rev. John Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow in Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas. Friends are invited back to the church fellowship hall where Dianne’s church family will host a memorial reception following the committal service.
