Diana L. Jones, age 62, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with her heavenly father on Monday, October 25, 2010, following a brief battle with cancer.A daughter of the late Roger and Elaine Scott Ward, Diana was born at Canton, Ohio on January 24, 1948.She was a graduate of Dover High School and continued her education to become a nurse’s aide.Diana’s entire working career of the past 30 years revolved around caring for others, especially the elderly. She was employed by New Dawn Health Care at Dover for 13 years and Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia for 12 years. For the past five years, Diana had been an employee of Tender Touch Home Health Care at New Philadelphia. A natural caregiver, Diana enjoyed raising her children, often taking them on special outings that included fishing trips to near-by waterways. Diana also enjoyed cooking and was always willing to host or attend a good gathering of friends and family. It was during these gatherings, if she was the hostess, she was sure to have had her house decorated for the appropriate season or holiday. Additionally, she enjoyed being out of doors it did not matter if she were on a walk, riding a motorcycle, swimming in her backyard pool or spending time in her flower-garden tending to her sunflowers, it was the sunshine and the nature that surrounded her which made her feel most comfortable.In her younger years, Diana enjoyed racing her 1957 Chevrolet and had a number of wins as a “Powder Puff” racer.Diana will be missed by her two children, Christine Shaffer of New Philadelphia and Bobby (Jessica) McCoy of Dover; a brother, Danny Ward of Dover; and four grandchildren, Quinten White McCoy, Warren Lippencot, Jeffrey Newton and Cheyinne Lippencott.Two aunts, Lona Keith and Ruth Moyer; two uncles, Butch Scott and Johnny Scott and a special niece, Joy (Jonathan) Gorby and their family also survive.The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 28, 2010, from 3 to 4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a memorial service celebrating Diana’s life on Thursday at 4PM in the funeral home’s chapel.Those unable to attend and wish to express condolences may do so by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.
