Dennis R. Ricklic, 71, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025 in Ohio’s Hospice – Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.
Born at Dover, Dennis was one of five children born to the late Raymond J. and Patricia J. (Kelly) Ricklic and was a 1971 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Dennis embarked on a fulfilling career as an electrician and had retired from Aleris Rolled Products at Uhrichsville, where he dedicated himself to his work with skill and professionalism.
Dennis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, honorably discharged after serving during the first Gulf War. His military service was a source of pride for him and a testament to his dedication to the ideals of service and sacrifice. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia and was also known for his quiet demeanor and clever mind.
An avid fisherman, Dennis spent countless hours traveling throughout the United States in search of trophy Bass and Muskie. These adventures brought him immense joy, and he cherished the peaceful moments spent by the water.
He is survived by his two sons, Christopher (Lori) Ricklic and Tyler Ricklic both of New Philadelphia; his brother, Kelly (Sharon) Ricklic of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Kathleen (Scot) Steele of Dover, Jane (Dr. Curt) Moore of Dover and Jill (Bryan) Carlisle of Uhrichsville and his two grandsons, Zander Ricklic and his fiancée, Sarah Ward and Mason Ricklic and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia, with Father Jeff Coning celebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
The family requests that memorial contributions, honoring Dennis, be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia has been entrusted with his service arrangements.
