Dennis McWilliams

August 6, 1957 — April 3, 2017

Dennis L. McWilliams, 59, of Dover, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 3, 2017 in Hennis Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in Dover on August 6, 1957, he was the son of Mary Catherine “Bubbles” McWilliams of New Philadelphia and the late Lloyd Clarence McWilliams.

After graduating from Indian Valley High School, he began his professional career with Gradall as a welder where he served for 38 years prior to his illness.

Dennis was an avid NASCAR, Cleveland Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes fan. In his younger years, he raced at Midvale Speedway. He also greatly enjoyed hosting Daytona 500 parties for 33 years prior to his illness. Then, his friends brought the party to him when he was a resident at Hennis.

Dennis will be deeply missed by his family including his daughters, Renee (Joe McCall) Maurer of Dover and Sarah (Taylor) McNutt of Sherrodsville; his son, Nicholas (Madison Kenney) McWilliams of New Philadelphia; his sisters, Lea Ann (Michael) Liedtke of New Philadelphia and Arleen McWilliams of Wooster; his brother, Scott (Jenny) McWilliams of New Philadelphia; and his grandchildren, Braxton Kiser, Kiara Maurer, Perris Jackson, Kyra and Kendra McCall, Ryan, Blake, and Alex McNutt; his nephews Shaun (Michelle) Liedtke and J.J. Transou, and niece C.C. Transou; and his former wife, Karen Casterline.

Dennis was preceded in passing by his wife, Christine Ann whom he wed October 25, 1985; his father, Lloyd, in 1987; and by his cousin and special friend Danny McWilliams.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Friday April 7, 2017 from 2 to 5 PM. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday April 8 beginning at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery.

Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home in New Philadelphia.
