Dennis Eugene Cross

Dennis Eugene Cross, Sr, age 52 of Midvale, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Barberton, O. Born at Dover, February 18, 1959, he was a son of the late Patricia Russell Cross and Thomas L. Cross, Sr. Best known as Denny to his family and friends, he attended school at Indian Valley North before going to work as an oil rigger, which took him to many points across the state. For the past 18 years, he worked at Primary Packaging of Bolivar, until illness forced his early retirement. At home, he’ll be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing. Denny loved to spend time outside with family and friends. He was friendly and outgoing to neighbors and strangers alike. Survivors include his two daughters and son, Sabrina and her husband, Justin Simon of Akron, Dennis E. Jr. “Spank” and his wife Mandy of New Philadelphia, and Regina and her husband Josh Stover, also of Akron. Papa Denny will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren, Casey and Colby Simon, Bailey Cross, Jaide Cox, Savannah and Addison Cross and Luke Stover. A sister, Peb (husband, Brian) Beans of New Philadelphia, and brothers Squeak (companion, Sherrie) Cross of Lake Milton, O., Nick Cross of Barnhill, and Doug Cross of Midvale also survive. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to his parents, a brother Ricky A. Cross, and a sister-in-law Jean Cross is also deceased. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 2-4 and from 6-8 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral celebrating Dennis’ life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel with burial following in New Philadelphia’s Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a luncheon reception in the Midvale Park Pavillion.
