Pearl Menefee, age 86, of Port Washington, died peacefully in her home with her family at her side, early Friday morning, June 29, 2012.
A daughter of the late Homer N. and Oleta (Culver) McCoy, Pearl was born at Wirt County, West Virginia on November 1, 1925.
On May 3, 1943, she married John N. Menefee and as a couple reared eight children and celebrated 49 years of marriage prior to his passing on May 19, 1992.
Pearl was a member of the Southside Gospel Church in Dennison and had a passion for caring for her family, reading, canning, gardening and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her children, Annabelle (Carl) Haupert, Willard P. (Kathy) Menefee, Ricky R. (Vickie) Menefee, Ronald R. Menefee all of Port Washington, Bonnie L. ( Craig) Sturgeon of Florida, Darrell Dwayne (Kathy) Menefee of Tennessee, and Twila K. (Brian) Beckett of Port Washington, and a sister, Delores Mildred Sparks of Strasburg.
Twenty grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen M. Mooneyham; a brother, Delbert D. McCoy, and three sisters, Delma B. Hershberger, Dessel L. Barron, and Delsie V. Kiser.
A private inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation care was conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
