Delores June Stone, age 80, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, January 23, 2011, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover.A daughter of the late Rudolph and Delores Ondo Bertka, Delores was born at McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania on March 20, 1930. She graduated from West High School at Akron, Ohio.On June 19, 1965, she married Devern “Dick” Stone and together the couple settled at Shaker Heights, Ohio. Delores was a registered nurse and ran the laboratory services center at the Cleveland Psychiatric Hospital for a number of years. Upon Retirement, the couple relocated to the Atwood Lake Region and permanently moved to New Philadelphia in 1988.Delores had a great sense of humor and a soothing personality which allowed her to comfort those she cared for as a nurse. She enjoyed fishing and boating trips as well as being out of doors. Later in life she had great fun in the kitchen as she refined her cooking skills, and learned to make true culinary cuisine. Recently, Delores learned to appreciate jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed working with them.She will be missed by her son, Michael Corona of Atwood Lake; a step-son, Michael (Patricia) Stone of Columbus; a step-daughter, Sharon Rowe of Dayton; an aunt, Margaret Conley of Dunedin, Florida; an uncle, Bill Bertka of Santa Barbara, California; special cousins, Delores Koza-Toye also of Santa Barbara California and Louise Kostelnick of Fairlawn, Ohio.A number of step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Alfredo Corona and her second husband, Captain Devern Calvert “Dick” Stone as well as a cousin; Clem Kostelnick.The family will receive friends on Friday, January 28, 2011, one hour prior to services from 9:30 â?? 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Reverend Hugh B. Berry will lead a service celebrating Delores’ life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens.Memorial contributions in Delores’ name may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
