Delores Marie “Dee” Garber, of Dover and formerly of Bolivar, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Park Village Health Care Centre at Dover.
Born in Massillon, Ohio on April 26, 1929, Delores was a daughter of the late Clarence R. and Marie (Wilhelm) Setterlin.
She was a 1947 graduate of the former Bolivar High School and a longtime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bolivar. She was also a member of the Bolivar American Legion Auxiliary and the Canton Shuffle Board Club. In her free time, Delores enjoyed bowling and in later years, she enjoyed a very special relationship with William Zutavern.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca S. Garber and Bishop Raymond Schultz of Nanaimo, BC, Canada; a brother-in-law Edgar Maurer of Canton; a nephew, Edward (Janet) Maurer of Massillon; two grand-nieces, Rebecca and Olivia Maurer; a niece, Sharon (Maurer) “Houston” Hooper of Massillon and a grand-niece Hayden Hooper.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Kent Garber whom she married on September 5, 1948 and a sister Barbara K. (Setterlin) Maurer.
In keeping with her wishes, her body is to be cremated through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. The family will greet guests during a memorial service January 3 2018 at 11 AM in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Pozzuto officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar.
