Delmer C. Kimble, 78, of New Philadelphia passed away June 26, 2015 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A son of the late Edward R. and Nellie M. (Barcus) Kimble, Delmer was born March 5, 1937 in Stone Creek.
After completing his formal education, Delmer joined the United States Airforce where he honorably served his country.
His professional career with Gradall spanned 30 years, ultimately retiring from their maintenance department.
Delmer was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge #510 and also the Quarter-Milers Club. He enjoyed his time drag racing in Magnolia where he won numerous awards. He also had a love for riding his motorcycle and tinkering with electronics.
Delmer will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Beth (Rick) Varnes of Dover and Julie Sweet of Michigan; four grandchildren, Abby and Madison Varnes, Courtney (Allen) Welsch and Joshua Myers; his great-grandson, Preston Varnes; his foster daughter, Wilma Ice of Richmond; his brother, Ron Kimble of Dover; and his sister, Sara (Gene) Chadwell of Follansbee, West Virginia; his companion, Shirley Pittman of New Philadelphia; his former wife, Judie Yost of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Delmer was preceded in death by his wife, the late Geraldine “Geri” Baio Kimble; and his sister-in-law, Jean Kimble.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 1 to3 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Elder Eugene Chadwell will lead a service on Wednesday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Hospitality Room at the Geib Funeral Center.
