Delmar Leroy Vickers, 77, of Uhrichsville, died peacefully Sunday morning in the Wade Park Veterans Medical Center of Cleveland. Born June 24, 1925 in Deersville, he was a son of the late John Vickers and Dessie Kail Vickers. Mr. Vickers served in the United States Navy during World War II and later worked as a site technician for the mental health ward in the State of Florida. Survivors include three sons, Dave (Jean) Vickers and Ron (Julie) Vickers both of Grand Junction, IA, and Jerry (Kathy) Vickers of Boone, IA, an adopted son, Ronnie and adopted daughter Lupe, daughter-in-law Janelle Vickers of Boone, IA, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two brothers Charles R. Vickers, of New Philadelphia, and Tony Vickers of Dennison. Delmar was close with a special nephew Kenny, and his wife Mary Vickers of Uhrichsville, who always had time to share with Delmar and provide special care. In addition to his parents, three sons, Dennis, James and Jeff Vickers as well as four sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Glen Shedlock will begin at 4 PM Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in the Chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Cremation will be conducted locally through the care and direction of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.
