Della E. Knisely Kohl

Della E. (Knisely) Kohl, 87, of Melbourne, Florida, went home to the Lord, December 5, 2006.Della was born May 7, 1919, in New Philadelphia, to the late James and Rosa (Stine) Knisely. Della’s great, great, great, great grandfather was James C. Knisely, founder of New Philadelphia. Della and her twin brother Dan participated in the dedication of the James C. Knisely School, which later became known as Central School, in New Philadelphia. She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School, and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, in New Philadelphia.She had many jobs over the years, such as helping with the boat concessions at area fishing lakes the family managed and assisting her husband with the management of the Columbia Roller Skating Rink. She had also worked in retail and food service throughout the area, and was a partner in her husband’s aerial photography business, spending many hours as camera operator and co-pilot, but no job was as rewarding to her, than caring for her family. Della is survived by her loving husband, Eddie; sons, Jerry and Donna Kohl, of Strasburg, and Jim and Rita Kohl, of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Judy and Jack Hipper, of Palm Bay, Fl.; grandchildren, Renee Abugov, Brian Kohl, Kerry Kohl, Ashley Kohl, and Tyler Kohl; great grandchildren, Amber Loveday, Tyler Abugov and Adam Abugov and great great grandchild, Reese Loveday.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Ernie, Bob and Dan Knisely and her sisters, Caroline Trexler, Margaret Mullen and Catherine “Kate” Froelich. A celebration of Della’s Life will be held Friday, December 29, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia with Pastor Marlen Drake officiating. A reception will follow in the Geib Family Center adjacent to the funeral home.Memorial contributions in Della’s memory are suggested to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 202 E.
