Delbert E. Barnett

Delbert E. Barnett, 88, of New Philadelphia, died September 24, 2006, at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio.Born in New Philadelphia on November 13, 1917, Delbert was the son of the late Delbert E. and Sylvia M. Ohler Barnett.During World War II, Delbert served in the Army and also served in the Navy, National Guard and the Coast Guard. In 1979, Delbert retired from Union Drawn Steel in Massillon after thirty years of service. He was a Jehovah’s Witness. Delbert enjoyed the outdoors, photography and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.On November 10, 1948, Delbert married Jeanne Frances Summers Barnett, with whom he is preceded in death.Delbert is survived by his children, Bruce K. Barnett of the Philippines, Margaret S. Barnett of Cambridge, Debra A. (Paul) Walls of Bradenton, Florida, Carla Y. (Timothy Robinson) Anderson of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Amanda Anderson of Massillon, Melissa (Donald) Smith of Dover, Allen Shetler of New Philadelphia, Adrianne Walls of Bradenton, Florida, Candace Barnett of Japan, Michele Barnett of Japan, Rochelle Barnett of Philippines; great grandchildren, Kyler Smith and Ashlyn Smith both of Dover. He was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Gowins, Dorothy Belknap; twin brothers, William Barnett, and Wilbur Barnett.Friends are invited to call Tuesday, September 26, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in the funeral home’s chapel with Tom Gallagher officiating.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
